Another Christmas Card bites the Dust

I'm so excited to have another Christmas card completed. I used the Sketch from Scrapsketch #7 I used the digital image from Squigglefly called Caroling Kids. I think my music note ribbon turned out so neat. I covered the entire ribbon in glossy accents then cut out the image and the edges stayed in tack and didn't fray. I only did this because I did not have any design paper or stamps with a music image but I did have ribbon so I improvised. Thanks for looking.

First Thanksgiving Card of the season.

This is my first Thanksgiving Card for the season. I only Plan to make 4 or 5 So I can focus my attention on completing all my Christmas Cards. I used this Shy Bear: Bountiful Blessings from Squigglefly. I just Love their digital images. I used the sketch from Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #25. I printed the image on semi-gloss photo paper so the ink would not dry so fast. I sprinkled the image with my embossing powder and only the heavy shaded areas pick it up. So the image is not fulled embossed only highlighted embossed. I colored the image using my Tim Holts Distress inks and Inkssentials pen nibs. They work amazing for coloring in small areas. The color kept fading in certain areas when I tried heat setting the ink so I had to go over some areas several times. The photo paper really gives it a cool look. I will have to try it again. I was just playing around last night and got lucky the image turned out to my liking. I will have to play around with the technique. I matted the image and distressed the edges for the My Time To Craft  Rip it Up Challenge. It also fits under the Papertake Weekly Challenge Spots-n-Stripes. The Theme qualify's it for the Crafty Creations Thanksgiving/gratitude challenge. I just love doing these challenges as it makes me step out of my comfort zone and it's great inspiration for sketches and colors I may not have original chosen for a cards design. Thanks for taking the time to look at my Work. Now I need to get back to my girlfriends Safari mini baby album or it won't be done before the baby arrives. (Which is in 2 weeks, I'm so excited for her).

Teal Santa Card

I have not been able to craft much the past few days so I stayed up late and created this cute Christmas Card. I'm not sure what it is but there is nothing more relaxing than taking a stamped image and bringing it to life. This is an old Stampin' up image (Not sure the collection but my stamp says 1993). I tried my best for a monochromatic color for the background so the image took presence. The background stamp is another oldie but goodie from Stampin' up 1997 ? collection. So sorry I don't know anymore than that. The Details of which stamps belong to which collection have gone missing over the years. The corner pieces are thin mulberry paper with flecks of gold and white embedded with-in it. I tore the edges to match the roughed edge of my base patterned paper. I covered the cutout stamped image in glossy accents to give it an embossed look and strengthen the cardstock to allow me to add pop-dots underneath. I used the sketch from the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #24. Thanks For Looking!

Halloween Treat Holder

It's been hard to find time to craft, but was able to get a little bit done this afternoon during Naps.  I'm not a very big Sweet or Candy fan so I wanted to do something else for a Holiday gift. I cut the box using my Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. Decorated with a friendly jack-o-lantern face. I filled with pencils adorned with a cute Halloween themed ribbon. I will send this cute treat box to school with my 2nd grader in the morning to give his Teacher a Sweet treat for the holiday.

Saturday Spotlight with Hidden potential Challenge. The Challenge was your own version of a Treat Container (SSHP04 Sweet Treats).
A few other challenges my little treat box fits under.

I believe in Santa Scrapbook page!

Saturday Spotlight Challenge #3. I created this layout with my 7 almost 8 year old in mind! I think he has finally come to the age where his friends will tell him Santa is Mom and Dad. So this will be the final year where he says he believes only for fear of not getting any gifts from Santa! Click on the picture for a zoomed view of all the detail.

Oh what a long Friday!

WooHoo! I was able to get a card made today. (And it took all day.) I was persistent and kept doing little bits and pieces here and there. I chose to try and tackle the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 23. I'm not exactly sure if it was the kids still being ill or if it was the sketch itself but this card was truly a challenge to complete for me. I'm glad I was able to end of with a final product I'm Happy to send to a family member for their holiday card.

I was also able to get a few pictures of my girlfriend's Safari Baby mini Album taken today as well. I have a lot left but here is a sneak peek. I Hope to complete before she has the Baby in mid November.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my crafts!

Quick and Simple Birthday Card!

SophistiCat Challenge #6

I got the Sketch from SophistiCat Challenge Blog. My Son has a Birthday Party this weekend and I still needed to make a card. My toddler is not feeling well so it had to be quick. I asked what his favorite color was and he said green so that's what I went with. I used my Cricut celebration cartridge for the balloons and sentiment. Colored in the stamped bear, added a ribbon and stickers, sparkly stickles and I have a simple card for an eight year old boy. It's really hard to see but that is an 8 in the middle balloon. I normally would put more detail into a birthday card but I liked the clean look of the sketch and wanted to try and stay close to it. It's for an eight year old I think he'll love it.

Sketch Challenge #72

I created this card Saturday evening but never got a chance to post it. Sketch Saturday Challenge #72.

Fall leaves

This card was fun to make but very time consuming. Lots of little detail. I chose this image for the Saturday Spotlight challenge. This weeks challenge was to Dress up a tree. I colored this image with SU markers and then shaded with pencils. I added Diamond glaze to accent the shading and give texture. A little bling and it was dressed. I chose my complimenting colors using two color challenges, Stamp Something -Brown plus something ~challenge~ and Stampin' for the weekend - End of summer color combo orange, brown and leafy green. Thanks for looking!

I thought I would be creative today and combine two challenges. The first challenge was from Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 22. I had so many ideas with this layout but came to a final decision when I combined it with a second challenge from Peachy Keen Stamps challenge 13.
The MMSC22 was straight forward follow the sketch below.

The PKS Challenge 13 requirements included:
  • Make a card
  • Use colors Blue and Purple in your design (can be subtle or bold)
  • Use a stamped image
  • Must include at least 3 snowflakes (can be more)
  • Must include a Greeting

  • This is the card I created today! If you click the picture it's easier to see the sparkle in the larger version. I just loved this paper. Wish I knew what brand it was.

I tried showing some of the dimension to the card in an angle photo but it didn't turn out so well. The purple base the snowman sits on is raised with pot dots as well as all the snowflakes! It's so cute it makes me smile!

    Hurray for me!

How Flattering my Card was selected as one of the Top 5! All the cards were so cute!

    Saturday Spotlight Challenge

    It's Halloween but Not!

Fun challenges lined up that will make you "think outside the box" a bit and
get you to using the stash you already have on hand...hopefully!! :)

*For this week's VERY first challenge,
you need to come up with a Halloween card/project BUT...WITHOUT using any Halloween images!*

    http://saturdayspotlight.blogspot.com/

Here is what I came up with but not sure if it will qualify! I had lots of fun Trying though! None the less It's a cute card I can send! I used the basket stamp from Stampin-up Berry Best set. The top of the pumpkin is actual meant to be for the strawberry in the collection. The letters of course or cut from my Amazing Cricut! The tear bear is from Mulberry paper I have not used in a long time. The cute bow is tied from raffia. I tried accenting different areas with Diamond glaze but hard to see in the photos.
