The First Sensational Saturday for 2011

WooHoo It's Saturday! I'm so excited to share the first 2011 card for Sugar Creek Hollow's Sensational Saturday.
This weeks challenge was a creative sketch

This week instead of a card I have a Wall Hanging. A few months ago I had created a wall hanging for myself using the Eastern Bluebird image from Sugar Creek Hollow. My Mother has been visiting for the last week and just loved this wall art hanging I had made. She wanted to steal mine so I told her I would make one of her very own so she didn't have to sneak any of my Home-Decor items into her bag when she left. I'm thinking she got the better end of the deal. I just Love how everything turned out.

Did you know? - - - The proceeds of sales from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe go to provide food, clothing and shelter for those who are less fortunate.  If you don't have any images from the Shoppe yet, check it out and when you buy something to use on your creations you can say that you have helped out too.
Here's an angled view so you can see the dimension of the art piece.

My image is colored using  pencils and blended with baby oil.
Items I used on this project :
Sugar Creek Hollow Eastern Bluebird Digital Image
7 gypsies conservatory paper collection
Prima Vine Summer Carnation lemon
Tim Holtz Adage ticket
Simplicity trim natural cluny lace
fused white pearl beading trim.
American Craft cardstock

Everyone is invited to enter a card using this weeks sketch and you are not required to use an image from Sugar Creek Hollow but if you do you will get two entries into the random prize draw.  The winner of that draw will receive a digi of their choice from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe and a badge to display on their blog.  Once we reach a minimum of 10 entries, the Design Team will select a Card of the Week and the creator of that card will receive a special badge to display on their blog.  Every month there will be a Guest Designer chosen from the Cards of the Week and that person will be invited to join the Design Team in a challenge.  There are lots of reasons to enter so we can't wait to see your fabulous creations.

This post is getting incredibly long. If your still with me one of my personal goals this year is to share some of the joys I have as a Mother and crafting while I raise my young children. My 3 year old daughter LOVES to craft with Mommy and many times creates right beside me. This is her project she created using the same image. I might be bias but She is a natural and will most definitely be better than me soon enough. Many times she gets my flops or oopsies but she loves it and I always try to help her Finish her project.
This is what she made for Grandma.

Thanks For stopping By Have a Happy Crafty Day!

Where did you ever find these beautiful papers-they are just stunning as the backdrop for that wonderfully colored bird. And your embellishments are over the top, drop dead gorgeous too! Totally fabulous-one of your best yet!

Wow, wow, wow! I love this card. It is so beautifully vintage. The perfect combination of elements for the sketch.

The flecks on my card were purely accidental. I forgot to use my embossing buddy and ended up with flecks of embossing powder. Glad it worked with the image.

Hugz,
Julie

Dawn, I love the fact that you have done a wall hanging. This would brighten up any room. I am interested in the pearl trim that you have used...how does that packaged? Your coloring is divine and those paper flowers are to die for!

What a beautiful project. I would love to know how large it is. I have some of that pearl trim but find it difficult to adhere without the adhesive showing - what's your trick? I love the layout and the gorgeous flowers. Your daughter's artwork will make a very special gift for Grandma.
Hugs!

A really nice piece of art...and Abigail seems to have mom's talent as well. We will keep watch for more of her art, too. She seems to be a very special and gifted little girl.
