Hello Monday!

I Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Congrats to the Saints for winning The NFL Superbowl! Mondays are always a warm welcome in my house as the hubby goes off to work and the two older kids head off to school. I have a quieter house with just the two little girls and myself. Mondays also mean a new weekly challenge at Squigglefly. This weeks challenge was to create a shaped Valentines card using non traditional colors. When I seen the challenge I knew exactly what image I wanted to use. This image is bedtime bear drawn by Susan Spiller. You can find this image and so many more at Squigglefly.com

Story behind image choice: Before my son heads off to school he Shouts very loudly  "Bye Mom Love you!" So when I seen the bedtime bear image Instead of looking at it as a bear yawning I seen a Bear shouting. All I had to do was add googly eyes to make him appear awake instead of sleepy.  It worked perfect for my Valentine to him. I printed my image Extra Large as I wanted that to be the majority of my card. I colored using my blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress inks. I printed the reverse image onto my patterned papers of choice and cut them out for his T-Shirt. The non traditional colors worked perfect for a boy.
Stop on over at the Squigglefly Challenge blog to see the other lovely DT cards.

2 more Life on the {scrap}beach crop challenges:
Challenge #4: The fourth challenge is to create a layout or project either about or for the love of your life. It could be a layout about your Starbucks addiction, or a card for a loved one to let them know how much they mean to you. This is the cover of my TWS Trade mini. The mini will be about all the Loves in her life. I just love the DCWV Mariposa Paper collection the papers are just gorgeous.

Challenge#5
The fifth challenge is to make a layout or project with play in mind. You could either make a layout about playtime, or you could just play with new techniques on a project. I tried playing with a new technique. Emboss resist stamping. It turned out to be more of a challenge to play with the tag to make it look good as my emboss resist technique didn't turn out.

Thanks for stopping by to look at my projects. Sorry for such a long post.

Life on the {scrap}beach Crop Challenges 1-3

Last night was the monthly Crop for Life on the {scrap}beach. I was able to complete the first 3 challenges during the Crop. I will be working on the remaining 3 today and tomorrow. The first challenge is to make a layout about a father ~ either your father, the father of your children or a father figure. I used this opportunity to finish a page for my girlfriends Baby mini album.
The second challenge was to make a layout about honesty. This could include a layout about being true to yourself, or a story about a time when honesty wasn't the best policy or any other variation on theme of honesty. I choose to do a variation.

The third challenge is to make a layout, card or other project using the shadow stamping technique. I made a Thank You card for my Girlfriend.

I'm off the finish the last 3 challenges while everyone else enjoys the SuperBowl!

Hi Everyone! Hope your week is going Great! Can you believe Tomorrow is Friday already. It has passed by so fast for me.  Don't forget to stop over at Wild West Scrap Divas blog to get your Valentines Cosmo Chemistry mini kit before they are all gone. The Shabby Chic Theme of the card came from Simon Says Challenge Blog. The colors pink and grey came from Cute Card Thursday. The Sketch came from Truly Scrumptious 23. An technique I do on almost all of my projects fit with the Frosted Design Ink Challenge. For the final Challenge I managed to sneak this one into was the Charisma Cardz Challenge which was Anything New. I used my Wags 'n Whiskers Bear Hug stamp to qualify for the No Red Valentine card. Phew I think I got them all.

One of my handmade Roses! I just love making these!

A close-up of the adorable Bear hug stamped image.

And a cute card element I cut from my cricut and distressed with my perfect pearls.

Squigglefly First Challenge for 2010

The Squigglefly Challenge Blog is back in action. While they took the month of December off the" powers that be" at Squigglefly were working hard going through all the entries to come up with the new design team. They have picked a great group of talented ladies!!! Their names and links to their blogs can be found on the Rt. side of the Squigglefly challenge blog. I'm so Proud to be one of those Lucky ladies. For this weeks First Challenge SFC#31 it was to make anything but a card. I created this adorable Tag to fit into a mini album I will be trading for the TWS Jan. Swap. It slides into the pocket on the June month page. Who doesn't like to cool off with friends under a sprinkle of water on a HOT June day. I colored the image with my Distress inks and accented with stickles. The background is lightly dusted with chalk to blend it all together. Thanks for stopping by to look. It will be interesting to see what everyone creates using the wonderful Squigglefly digital images.

Decorative Tag using Squigglefly image with room for a picture or journaling on the back.

Mini album pages with the 3 tags that tuck behind the pocket.

{Scrap}beach Crop Challenges

Last night I attended the On-line crop for Life on the {scrap}beach in Ustream. I normally scrap while I watch but I was too chatty last night so I didn't complete any of the challenges during the on-line crop. Kathryn the creator of the site does these the first Sat of every month. It was pushed back this month due to Holidays. The next event is Feb. 6th.  I did sneak in some craft time today to work on a layout. I choose to do this challenge simple because I thought the idea was cute and I have NO scrapbook pages about me. I used my Cosmo Cricket Fleuriste paper collection. I hand-made all the flowers. I cut the flourish and letters with my Cricket. The leaves and atc transparency is 7 gypsies. I had so much fun creating this layout. I'm back at my craft table so I hope to post a few more tomorrow.
Thanks for looking.

2 cards to share!

I made two cards yesterday but have been so busy this is the first chance I have to post to the Blog. I spent most of the day at my nephews house celebrating his 4th Birthday. I made him a special Dinosaur card as they are his favorite. I used the Get happy paper collection from Cosmo Cricket.

It was so cute when he opened it! he was "Aww cool! Look mom Auntie Dawn Made me a Dinosaur!" It don't get any better than a 4 year Old excited to get one of your cards! And he knew I made it even better!
This next card I made for Gina Ortiz to give to her friend  who has just started to undergo Chemo therapy! I wanted to make her smile when she sees it so I used this New released Squigglefly image Herby the Frog from Artist Chrissy Armstrong. Stop on over at the website to see more Amazing digital images! Inside The Card it reads: Sending you Frogs and Kisses!

My first Birthday card for 2010

I created this cute little birthday card for a friend whom I met through the internet! I used my Celebrations cartridge for my cricut to cut the cupcake then simple glued the pieces together! I glued the paper piecing to a folded card base then cut the edges to match the cupcake shape. I added some stickles, a candle sticker and viola super Cute and simple card!
I picked my paper choices based off the sketch from Caardvarks New Year Kick-off Challenge

It also fits the My Pink Stamper Cricut Challenge from today. Not really a challenge just something fun which was make a project (card, scrapbook page, 3D item, etc.) for a friend. Start the new year off by making something special for someone that you love or like. :)

I have neglected my blog the last few weeks as I have been so busy with so many things! One of those is a mini scrapbook album I intend to give to my Mother-in-law as a holiday gift. Just a quick post to display my Family Tree and a friends blog candy!

My family normally travels out of town for the Christmas Holiday. This year we have decided to stay at home for the first time. My husband and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary this next year and this is our first Christmas in Our Home. I'm thinking I might just do it every year as the kids are getting older and it's harder to travel long distances with 4 busy kids. Not to mention I don't have to spend a week in advance planning and packing the luggage items. A quick pic of our Family tree. My kids decorated it with several of their own handmade ornaments and a few store bought. I just love the smell of a real tree.

Just thought I would drop a little note. A fellow craft friend of mine has Blog Candy up for grabs! Feel free to check it out! Thoughts of a Crafty Mom

Just a few craft projects I didn't have a chance to post. Beware Picture Heavy.

I've fallen a little behind on posting my projects but rest assured I've been staying busy. I will just group them all together in this post so Hope you enjoy!
I created this Double sided Tri-Fold Frame for a challenge on a great craft forum Life on the{scrap}beach. I had received a sheet with small Photos of different background options with my children's Fall pictures. This is how I made use of them. I cut the base out of Heavy Chipboard and covered with some Yummy Design paper from my paper stash. I used ribbon as the thread underneath the paper to adhere the photos in their little windows. I strung some unique beads for the Center which also is hidden under the paper. I attached the side frames simple using hinges. Covering them with some paper for a hidden appeal.
I Intend to give this to my Mother-in-law but it's too cute I don't know if I can give it away.

Another project I completed as a gift is this cute Wallet mini for my Auntie Con to hold pictures of her Adorable Grandson.

Ok that's all for this morning will put together another post later today! Thanks for looking and feel free to leave me a comment!

Lots of crafting done! WooHoo!

Last night I attended the Life on the {scrap}beach On-line Crop. OMG! It was so much fun. Lots of chat and learned a few new things too! This lovely group does a monthly virtual Crop on their Ustream channel. There are 6 challenges that we can complete and here are a few I have done thus far. I did not do them in order.
Challenge #2:
The second challenge is try something new on a layout! I just got some Tim Holtz Perfect Pearl powders for the first time on Friday so I made a mist and used it on my snowmen and bottom snow. This is really hard to photograph but I did try.

This is a close-up using super-macro feature on my camera. I have no idea how to capture this effect in a photograph so I'm open to suggestions.

Challenge #4: The fourth challenge is to create an entire layout without ever using your paper trimmer once! You can use other cutting implements, but no paper trimmers! I only used my craft knife and my Cricut. I didn't like the look of the Zooballoo cartridge Hippo as it was cut so I cut the shadow image for the body then increased my size and cut the regular image and cut off the head part. I then free cut my own snout and was much happier with the end result. I raised with pop-dots to give the dimension. This is the Fourth page in my girlfriends Safari baby mini so how fitting 4th page And challenge 4. It was meant to be.

and a close-up of the hippo!

The final challenge I was able to complete today was another page in my mini album.

Challenge #6: The sixth challenge is to make a layout about an animal. So I created a Monkey for the third page in the album. I had to free hand all the pieces but the tail. I used my celebrations cartridge and the party favor shadow cut. The branches are from the zooballoo cartridge and I just glittered them up. I still need a title but have not thought of anything clever yet.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my creations and reading my super long post! Hope everyone has a great week!

Loving these Easel Cards!

I just had to make another easel card as it was so much fun. I waited till yesterday to make my card for last weeks Saturday Spotlight Challenge. I'm on the ball as I got this weeks challenge card done today. This weeks SSHP06 theme was Repeatedly Useful. (use an image more than once on your creation.) The poinsettia corner stamp was great to frame my Cardinal image. The stamp originally had a To: From: on it as well but I just cut that part off.  This card also qualify for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #57 which was to make an easel card. The Stamps are from a 1997 retired SU collection. I used some of my perfect pearl powders on the flowers and leaf but really hard to see in the photos. I also misted the raised top node mat with my perfect pearls mist that I made. I love how it gives a subtle sheen to the card. Thanks for Looking and Have a Wonderful weekend! OK onto tonight On-line Crop with The Life on the {Scrap}beach girls!

For all the Cricut users out there.

This is a program I've been wanting to get for awhile. I do plan to purchase after the Holidays. Everyone knows how expensive Cricut cartridges can be so this is a great software program to have. I read that it is better than Design Studio. So check out this link for a chance to win the software.

My First Easel Card

I've been seeing several of these cards on other blogs and thought I wanted to try. It was very easy to make and I will definitely make more in the future. The image I used for this card is a digi from Squigglefly. I just love the Shy bear images. I printed the image on photo paper and embossed with clear powder before the printer ink dried and it gives a really cool look. I colored using my Tim Holtz Distress inks and my nibs. When heat setting the ink it fades into the previous embossing  for another cool effect. Just a technique I did by accident on another image and trying to perfect it. Nothing like waiting till the last minute but I made this card following the SSHP05-Saturday Spotlight- In So many Words. Great challenge for this easel card as while being displayed it will say so much.

Swoosh!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick card post. I've been spinning my wheels in the card making. I've been working on the mini here and there, but still lots to do. I was able to sit down today and get this Holiday card made. I have not participated in this challenge blog in a short while so I thought I would give it a go this week. So the Sketch is from Get Sketchy #12 I used a squigglefly digi. I added glossy accents to the scarf to raise the feature, and stickles to the snow for glitz. Thanks for looking!

Another Christmas Card bites the Dust

I'm so excited to have another Christmas card completed. I used the Sketch from Scrapsketch #7 I used the digital image from Squigglefly called Caroling Kids. I think my music note ribbon turned out so neat. I covered the entire ribbon in glossy accents then cut out the image and the edges stayed in tack and didn't fray. I only did this because I did not have any design paper or stamps with a music image but I did have ribbon so I improvised. Thanks for looking.

First Thanksgiving Card of the season.

This is my first Thanksgiving Card for the season. I only Plan to make 4 or 5 So I can focus my attention on completing all my Christmas Cards. I used this Shy Bear: Bountiful Blessings from Squigglefly. I just Love their digital images. I used the sketch from Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #25. I printed the image on semi-gloss photo paper so the ink would not dry so fast. I sprinkled the image with my embossing powder and only the heavy shaded areas pick it up. So the image is not fulled embossed only highlighted embossed. I colored the image using my Tim Holts Distress inks and Inkssentials pen nibs. They work amazing for coloring in small areas. The color kept fading in certain areas when I tried heat setting the ink so I had to go over some areas several times. The photo paper really gives it a cool look. I will have to try it again. I was just playing around last night and got lucky the image turned out to my liking. I will have to play around with the technique. I matted the image and distressed the edges for the My Time To Craft  Rip it Up Challenge. It also fits under the Papertake Weekly Challenge Spots-n-Stripes. The Theme qualify's it for the Crafty Creations Thanksgiving/gratitude challenge. I just love doing these challenges as it makes me step out of my comfort zone and it's great inspiration for sketches and colors I may not have original chosen for a cards design. Thanks for taking the time to look at my Work. Now I need to get back to my girlfriends Safari mini baby album or it won't be done before the baby arrives. (Which is in 2 weeks, I'm so excited for her).

Teal Santa Card

I have not been able to craft much the past few days so I stayed up late and created this cute Christmas Card. I'm not sure what it is but there is nothing more relaxing than taking a stamped image and bringing it to life. This is an old Stampin' up image (Not sure the collection but my stamp says 1993). I tried my best for a monochromatic color for the background so the image took presence. The background stamp is another oldie but goodie from Stampin' up 1997 ? collection. So sorry I don't know anymore than that. The Details of which stamps belong to which collection have gone missing over the years. The corner pieces are thin mulberry paper with flecks of gold and white embedded with-in it. I tore the edges to match the roughed edge of my base patterned paper. I covered the cutout stamped image in glossy accents to give it an embossed look and strengthen the cardstock to allow me to add pop-dots underneath. I used the sketch from the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #24. Thanks For Looking!

Halloween Treat Holder

It's been hard to find time to craft, but was able to get a little bit done this afternoon during Naps.  I'm not a very big Sweet or Candy fan so I wanted to do something else for a Holiday gift. I cut the box using my Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. Decorated with a friendly jack-o-lantern face. I filled with pencils adorned with a cute Halloween themed ribbon. I will send this cute treat box to school with my 2nd grader in the morning to give his Teacher a Sweet treat for the holiday.

Saturday Spotlight with Hidden potential Challenge. The Challenge was your own version of a Treat Container (SSHP04 Sweet Treats).
A few other challenges my little treat box fits under.

I believe in Santa Scrapbook page!

Saturday Spotlight Challenge #3. I created this layout with my 7 almost 8 year old in mind! I think he has finally come to the age where his friends will tell him Santa is Mom and Dad. So this will be the final year where he says he believes only for fear of not getting any gifts from Santa! Click on the picture for a zoomed view of all the detail.

Oh what a long Friday!

WooHoo! I was able to get a card made today. (And it took all day.) I was persistent and kept doing little bits and pieces here and there. I chose to try and tackle the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 23. I'm not exactly sure if it was the kids still being ill or if it was the sketch itself but this card was truly a challenge to complete for me. I'm glad I was able to end of with a final product I'm Happy to send to a family member for their holiday card.

I was also able to get a few pictures of my girlfriend's Safari Baby mini Album taken today as well. I have a lot left but here is a sneak peek. I Hope to complete before she has the Baby in mid November.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my crafts!

Quick and Simple Birthday Card!

SophistiCat Challenge #6

I got the Sketch from SophistiCat Challenge Blog. My Son has a Birthday Party this weekend and I still needed to make a card. My toddler is not feeling well so it had to be quick. I asked what his favorite color was and he said green so that's what I went with. I used my Cricut celebration cartridge for the balloons and sentiment. Colored in the stamped bear, added a ribbon and stickers, sparkly stickles and I have a simple card for an eight year old boy. It's really hard to see but that is an 8 in the middle balloon. I normally would put more detail into a birthday card but I liked the clean look of the sketch and wanted to try and stay close to it. It's for an eight year old I think he'll love it.

Sketch Challenge #72

I created this card Saturday evening but never got a chance to post it. Sketch Saturday Challenge #72.

Fall leaves

This card was fun to make but very time consuming. Lots of little detail. I chose this image for the Saturday Spotlight challenge. This weeks challenge was to Dress up a tree. I colored this image with SU markers and then shaded with pencils. I added Diamond glaze to accent the shading and give texture. A little bling and it was dressed. I chose my complimenting colors using two color challenges, Stamp Something -Brown plus something ~challenge~ and Stampin' for the weekend - End of summer color combo orange, brown and leafy green. Thanks for looking!
