A few simple cards!

This past year has been incredible as I continue to learn the internet craft community and all that it has to offer. I have met so many kind, and welcoming people. It's not always easy for me to come by supplies in my town as we have no longer have a local scrapbook store. (it closed 3 months ago) It's a 2 hour drive to the closest Michael's or Hobby Lobby and trips like that just don't happen with my four children to tend to. I generally have to get all my supplies on-line but they may not always be easy to find. Thankfully there are so many new friends I have met that are always willing to trade or swap goodies with me. I have always included a hand-made card in anything I send. So I've made up a few quick Thank You cards so next time I send out a package or just a card Thanking someone for the inspiration they have given me I will be ready.

T!m Holtz inspired Tag

Just a quick post today to share a project I created for a friend as a Thank you For some paper she is sending me. I followed the theme of the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog challenge. The challenge was anything T!m Holtz inspired. That was super easy for me as most of my projects fall into that category.

Sorry for such a short post but I'm fighting a headache today.

My Squigglefly challenge#63 card gone ARYE!

Yesterday I sat down to create a card for the Squigglefly challenge. I Knew it had to be a Diagonal Double pocket card and I made one before so I never bothered to check the handy link that was provided on the challenge post. I probably should have then I wouldn't have made my card wrong and............. I would have noticed it was to be a fall themed card. So Today my card share looks pretty but does not follow the rules! LOL. It has three pockets instead of Two, and it's Christmas not Fall! oops! ;)

A closer look at the Shy bear tag peeking out. After lots of fussy cutting I added Diamond glaze over the holly leaves and berries. A little liquid pearl on the hat brim to give more dimension.

A couple more project from the beach crop

These are 2 more projects I completed for the {Scrap}beach anniversary crop.
The sixth challenge is to do a layout about your neighborhood, where you live, the community of people and places that you surround yourself with. The layout I created was a project for my neighbors who just got married on the 14th of this month and I just loved this picture I took of them. I created this simple wall hanging for them to remember their beautiful wedding in the mountains.

The third challenge was to make a layout based on the Somerset Studios "Fearless" Challenge. Inspired by their cover story on the Artwork of Anahata Katkin.
I decided to create in my personal art journal for this challenge and snapped a picture of my work before I completed with my personal journaling. This is the first time sharing my art journal on my blog. The journal is my Escape and that is why I'm choosing to keep the journaling aspect private. I'm still exploring this new form of art and having a blast learning my art of Good enough. Where I step back and stop comparing. Not getting tempted to do more, better, funnier, cleaner, or more beautiful Just being FEARLESS and DO!

Life on the {Scrap}beach ~ 1 year Anniversary Crop challenges

Yesterday was the On-line crop for Life on the {Scrap}beach. Those of you not familiar with the ning site let me tell you a little bit about this Fabulous website. The Creator of the site is Kathryn Krieger. She has amazing artistic talents and I admire her work tremendously. You can visit her blog here or the ning site here. Each Thursday Kathryn hosts 2 Ustream shows showing creative ideas, techniques, new products, and it's just a blast to attend and chat with fellow crafters. Kathryn also hosts a monthly on-line crop once a month. Normally this is the first Saturday but this was a special month as it has been 1 year since she created the site. I have a friendship with Kathryn I like to describe more like a dueling sister. We love to tease each other but it's always done in FUN. There are 6 challenges that Kathryn creates to help get our artistic minds moving. The first challenge for this month's crop was use the color pallet from this image. Sage Green, Sky blue, & Dusty Orange.

For my project I used the softer hues and created a decorative sign that Kathryn can use during her Ustream shows if she needs to step away from her desk and doesn't want to stop the broadcast.

The next challenge I completed was skipping ahead to Challenge #4. White on white on white.
I will be sending this to a fellow beach member and friend Thanking her for some images she stamped and shared with me. Her favorite color is white. I have since added the sentiment as the Dazzling diamond Glimmer mist was still wet when I took the photo.

The next challenge I attempted was back to challenge #2 Trash to treasure. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for this but an idea did come. I created this card using a frame that I made during the week and initially threw away because I didn't like the look or color of it. So I pulled it out of file13 and used it.

I still trying to finish up the remaining 3 challenges today between the kids and my precious  mini dachshund having a litter of puppies. The dachshund just started active labor so hopefully not too much longer.

Twooooofer craft project day!

Warning long post lots of babbling LOL!
Wow yesterday was crazy for me. I was able to sit down at the craft desk yesterday morning and create a beautiful card before I had a full day of errands. I can't wait till school starts so things can slow down a bit, but on the other hand I'm still getting the kids ready so more time would be nice too. Oh the fun! I only have the daughter's high-school supplies left to buy. I don't understand why they wait till the week before school starts to send out the class schedules and supply list. Grade school is so easy peasy with the supply lists right there at Walmart for K-6. Anyhooo enough rambling. The card I made was following the MMSC67 sketch. It was such a fun sketch I couldn't resist. The weeks challenge sponsor was Sugar Creek Hollow who has fabulous vintage shabby digi's my favorite. I selected the SCH barn swallow for my image and used 7 gypsies paper. A few wild orchid roses and some odds and ends embellies from my stash. I love that this card can be used for many occasions so I decided not to add a sentiment just yet till I know where it's home will be.

I loved how the swallow was perched on a branch so I drew off that inspiration and continued with a cricut cut from the Home Decor cart. covering both in glossy accent to blend. I colored my image using T!m Holtz distress inks.

My second project for the day (well it was night lol) was created while watching a Ustream show hosted by Marion Smith for Prima. She made an adorable Halloween fold-up layout box. That's what I call it not sure what she called it. I made mine with a Christmas theme and will use it to house a custom ornament for the year and give as a gift. It's such a clever little idea and can be made with only 2 pieces of 12x12 cardstock. (heavier the better) I used the Retro grunge paper stack. I think I might just grab this stack for a lot of my Christmas projects~ love the grungy reds and greens. I did change up the design of the cover just a tad as I wanted both sides of the paper to show. I did not get a chance to decorate the bottom half as it was getting late and my 1 year old has yet to learn how to sleep-in! ;)
If your still with me here Thanks this post is getting long winded.

On the Prima show Marion Atg'd the triangle pieces down where I flipped mine back up on themselves.

Treasure For you!

Well Hello Wednesday! Gosh it felt good to sit down at the craft desk this morning. Yesterdays headache was miserable. I didn't even clean up the mess from when I completed my friends card. That's how bad it was but >>>>>>> I drew inspiration from some of the scraps laying there which could be a good thing. I wanted to create something for my Besty because it seems I make so many projects for other friends and she always gets the short stick. So I made her a little wall hanging treasure. I just used bits and pieces out of my scraps because I have an illness where I keep them all. (LOL How many suffer from the same condition?) The backing is a $1 chipboard album in the shape of a Tag. ( They make a great canvas for wall decor.)

This project works for a few challenges as well so Bonus!

A simple Hooray!

I made this card for a friend to Congratulate her on making a Design Team. I used 7 gypsies paper and emporium.

I followed the Sketch Saturday sketch for my layout.
I embossed the coordination cardstock with the regal flourishes Tim Holtz folder and inked with Vintage photo, aged mahogany, wild honey and forest moss.
Sorry this is so short but I've been fighting a headache all day and wanted to get this posted before I mailed it off and forgot.

Cute Brush holder.

This is a cute little Treat tube holder I found on Kim Scores blog. I used Tim Holtz papers a 7gypsies leaf, a WOC rose and trim. I think I will use it as a perfect pearl brush holder instead though. She is doing a blog candy for those who can create one and link back to her tutorial. While there check out her other projects She is so crafty.

Detour Ahead!

Somedays the side roads turn out to be the better route! Yesterday I had all intention to complete a layout. I started by looking for a sketch to follow I found one I liked and turned to the craft stash for items to use. As I looked through my papers, trims, and flowers  I just wasn't finding what I wanted. Soooooo..... I made something that would work. This is my version of the Beautiful Prima vines. I loved making these. They were so easy when using the Wild Orchid Flowers and leaves. (10minutes per vine) I have made 4 to sell in my Etsy store. My first items ever listed :) Now I just need to make my layout when I return from the weekend events. I also need to place another WOC order as I used all my leaves. That site is so dangerous for my wallet.
The 4 stems listed in my ETSY

How long would it take you to cut 1000 sheets of paper?

That is the question of the day! While reading my morning paper~ ok it's not really a paper it's my google blog reader. I stumbled upon a post where I read Amy from A thousand sheets of paper thought it would be fun to count how long it took for her to cut through 1000 sheets of pattern paper as she created her cards. Well it took her just a little over a year. For this great achievement she is giving away a fabulous blog candy. So stop over at her blog and check it out!

Hook, Line, and sinker

I first need to apologize for not posting the last few days! I've been busy creating in my New Personal Art Journal. I've seen many fellow crafters with these and thought it was time I give it a try. I created my handmade journal using the Copic Stitch method. The front and back covers are grunge paper and the inside signatures are created using Acrylic paper. This Journal will be for me as a personal release and stress free art form. I'm choosing not to share my pages at this time but maybe down the road I will share a few.

Enough Rambling Right!
Yesterday I seen a SUPER cute project on Wendy Vecchi's blog for the August tutorial for Ranger. As soon as I seen this I knew I wanted to Doop it and make my own. So today I did my best to re-create her beautiful piece of art. You can find the product list and instructions HERE at Ranger's site.
I had so much fun making this and I got to use a lot of my mixed media art products.
Here's my take on the project:

I learnt how to use some of my Golden Gel Mediums which was Super cool!
The base of the project is a 6x6 piece of medium chipboard covered in Claudine Hellmuth sticky back canvas.
First I sealed the canvas with Gesso then I covered the canvas in Ranger distress crackle paint-white picket fence.
I colored with broken china distress ink and highlighted with several Glimmer mist colors. (bubbles, Sea glass, and a hint of sweet clover)
I edged the entire canvas with Archival Lightning Black Ink.
The sand was created using the Course pumice gel, then highlighting with Clear tar gel medium mixed with light and dark brown acrylic paints.
I hand made my Faux fishing net using hemp twine. It doesn't look as cool as what Wendy used but I love how it turned out.
I embellished the Canvas with Studio112 embossed fish stickers covered in crackle accents and Glossy accents, a Tim Holtz foliage metal piece and a swivel clasp cut to appear as a hook. A Tim Holtz philosophy tag and spinner.  The kelp is actually a piece of stem I stole off a flower arrangement in my home. I finished off the project with 2 fasteners that I can use to hang my masterpiece or just leave as an accent.
